Occasionally, one member of GRC’s dedicated team can be spotted dashing out of
Albert House at a moment’s notice to attend a coastal emergency.
Ben Howarth has been one of the Meols-based Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team since
August2015, with the coastguard regularly being called out to locations around the Wirral.
Having successfully completed an off-road driving course, Ben’s skills contribute to a dedicated team which covers all sorts of coastal rescues, including ‘shouts’ rescuing people who are either in the water or trapped in mud, need rope-rescuing from cliffs, or taking part in co-ordinated searches for people who may have gone missing.
The WCRT are all volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
